PSR has launched the new version of OptGen, a software specialized in planning the expansion of electric systems. The update has a special focus on risk analysis and customization of the software by the user, allowing for even more precise and flexible modeling, helping companies and regulators to make more efficient strategic decisions in the generation, transmission and distribution segments.

“The current scenario requires more strategic energy planning, which takes into account climate uncertainties, variability in fuel prices and investment in new technologies. With this update, OptGen allows the creation of generic investment and operation restrictions, in addition to enabling the modeling of dynamic relationships between critical variables, making the software even more powerful for modeling the current challenges of the electric power sector,” explains Alessandro Soares, head of Analytical Tools at PSR.

Among the main new features of version 8.2 of OptGen, we highlight the possibility of customizing the software through restrictions and generic variables, which can be used to model specific aspects of generation and transmission planning; and the inclusion of the concept of efficient frontier, which improves the risk analysis of the electrical system expansion plan. The improvements provide a more detailed analysis aligned with the transformations of the sector, ensuring greater safety and efficiency in energy planning.

PSR continues to invest in the development of innovative solutions, aligned with the new demands of the sector, which require more flexible, intelligent and resilient planning. OptGen 8.2 is now available to customers and partners.
